The Basics of Tutoring

Here are some insightful tips to help you maximize the effectiveness of your tutoring session, which passes at an incredible speed:

  • Choose a quiet and bright location. Avoid spaces where the student will be disturbed by noises or other people (e.g. other children, television, music).
  • Ensure that the student has all the necessary tools at hand: pencils, eraser, highlighter pen, sharpener, calculator, geometry set, rule, dictionary, Bescherelle guide to conjugation, lined sheets. You can store all these in a designated container always ready for the next session.
  • Take out the textbooks, workbooks, school agenda and computer, if necessary, and open them to the relevant pages for the work to be done.
  • Ensure that your child eats a snack before the session, as it has been proven that concentration is at its highest with a full stomach.

  • Prepare a sheet containing the concepts to work on, so that nothing is forgotten.

Finally, you must maintain open lines of communication with your tutor, and inform him/her of any changes in your child.
