About us

The Odyssey of an Education Visionary

In a small classroom, a young student dreamed big. After brilliantly earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montreal with a specialization in mental health, she embarked on the adventure of teaching at the secondary level in the schools of Laurentides, Quebec. Every day, she shared her passion, guiding her students through the challenges and joys of learning.

But a bigger dream still burned within her. She remembered her Grade 11 project, where she had envisioned becoming an entrepreneur. That entrepreneurial flame had never dimmed.

As she continued her studies in Preschool and Primary Education at the University of Ottawa, an idea sprouted in her mind. She noticed how challenging it was for students to find the right tutor, despite a glaring need for young students struggling academically. What if she could fill that gap?

The beginning of a great adventure

With the birth of her third child, she merged her love for teaching and her entrepreneurial spirit to create SOSteacher. But she didn’t stop there. She also launched “Teach It Forward”, a volunteer initiative to promote quality and inclusive education for all.

She’s an innovator at heart, adopting philosophies like Lean Management to maximize the efficiency and resources of her social enterprise. She believes in autonomy, freedom of choice, and personal development, encouraging every member of her community to shine brightly.

Her commitment is unwavering. She constantly seeks to root SOSprof in the Francophone educational landscape, while opening her arms to collaboration with other passionate professionals.

And her responsibility? It goes far beyond business. She believes in equitable education, fighting against poverty, and sustainability. She wants to leave a positive imprint, not only on education but also on society and the environment.

One day, a touching message from one of her collaborators, Stéphanie, lands in her inbox: “In all honesty, I’ve never felt so much at home… Your kindness towards us is remarkable.”

Today, she continues her journey, proudly carrying the banner of education for all. She is living proof that, with passion and determination, one can truly change the world.

Join us in this inspiring adventure and discover how, together, we light up the future of every child.

How does it work?

Who are our tutors ?

We are mostly teachers and retirees, legally qualified or currently enrolled in a program of study. Many of our tutors are also graduates from specialized university programs in a variety of fields (mathematics, economy, literature, language, administration, psychology, chemistry, physics, etc.). They are rigorously chosen on the basis of criteria clearly established by SOSteacher:

  • A minimum of university credits in the field of study;
  • Background check relevant to the employment;
  • Experience with youth either as a volunteer or for work;
  • Familiarity with the school reform.

Our values

We’re driven by a burning desire to act as a lever in your child’s life so that they can progress and, above all, taste success. After all, it’s the addition of small, concrete gestures that motivates them to persevere and move forward. Success is important to us, and progress even more so. Respect, trust, attentiveness, determination, diligence, sensitivity, dynamism, competence: these are the main assets that make up our tutors and make us the people your child needs to make progress in his or her school career.
